Authorities and Responsibilities:

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial body that is charged with holding hearings, reviewing, and acting on applications for variances from the Zoning Ordinance’s non-use requirements and standards, requests for interpretations of the Zoning Ordinance or Official Zoning Map, and other matters referred to it by the Zoning Ordinance or that it is required to pass under this Ordinance.  The ZBA also hears and decides appeals from any order, decision, or determination made by an administrative official or body charged with enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.

Membership:
At least 5 regular members appointed by the Township Board.

Alternates: Up to 2 alternate members may also be called to serve as a regular member in the absence of a regular member if the regular member will be unable to attend 1 or more meetings. The alternate serves on a case until a final decision is made, with the same voting rights as a regular member.

OMA/FOIA Status:
Public body subject to Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act.

 

 

Submission Deadline

Applications must be received by the Township at least four weeks before a regular meeting date.
